Political donations of mining companies in Imereti and tenders won by them

TI Georgia has studied the involvement of companies that received a mining license in the Imereti region in the years 2019-2021 in public procurements and their support for political parties. These companies mine sand and gravel as well as granite, teschenite, limestone, basalt, and other mineral resources.

In the Village of Khevasheni, Adigeni, the Companies Owned by the Brothers of the Mayor’s Representative Received Procurement Contracts Worth Nearly 2 million GEL

In 2015, Giorgi Endeladze was appointed as the Mayor’s representative to the Khevasheni administrative district of Adigeni Municipality. Since then, his brothers’ companies have received 1,905,649 GEL through 244 public procurement contracts. Of these, 896 271 GEL (47%) were received from Adigeni City Hall and its legal entities.

The owner of four blacklisted companies wins tenders with a new, fifth company

The businessman Aleksandre Baratashvili has used the well-known flaw of the public procurement blacklist four times on succession and without any problems. After his four companies were put on the blacklist one after another, he founded the fifth company and obtained public procurement contracts in several weeks. In total, the companies of Aleksandre Baratashvili have obtained procurement contracts worth GEL 4.5 million.

Corruption risk in Akhaltsikhe: The City Hall acquires parking lot spaces from former high-ranking officials at a price that exceeds its actual value by 1.1 million

Akhaltsikhe City Hall intends to purchase a bus stop space for 2,600,000 GEL from Silk Road Engineering LLC. It is noteworthy that this company is owned by Paata Shekeladze, the former director of "Mechanizator" LLC in the Ministry of Agriculture, and Temur Tsutskiridze, the former procurement manager of the same company.
