Georgian civil society categorically condemns the violence carried out by Bidzina Ivanishvili's law enforcement agencies
Georgian civil society categorically condemns the illegal detention of the civil activist groups and politicians by Bidzina Ivanishvili's law enforcement agencies, the search of their offices, and the acts of brutal violence carried out by the police. The actions of the Georgian Dream went beyond not only the legal but also the constitutional and moral boundaries. Ivanishvili's Prime Minister announced repressions a few days ago, and today the law enforcement agencies have already been involved in fulfilling this task. This violent regime is evidently doing everything to undermine the interests of Georgia and the Georgian people, to intimidate Georgian citizens so that they stop resisting the Russian criminal regime. Ivanishvili's government is afraid of the people because only the people can end this lawlessness.
The illegitimate power in power has begun repressions, tortured detainees, and used excessive force against protesters, which is a sign of the regime's weakness and fear. We are not afraid, the Georgian people continue to fight against violence, injustice, and the establishment of an unconstitutional order.
We demand the immediate release of all those detained after November 28, the appointment of new elections, and the appointment of consensus candidates for the Central Election Commission and law enforcement agencies. We also call on the violent employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and their supervisors to be held accountable.
We call on the international democratic community and Georgia's friendly countries to stand by the Georgian people and use the mechanisms at their disposal to stop the representatives of the repressive Russian regime, including imposing individual sanctions on the perpetrators, organizers, and all persons responsible for the acts of violence.
