The International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy, the Georgian Young Lawyers Association, and Transparency International Georgia condemn the instance of politically motivated physical intimidation which has taken place today in the Marneuli Municipal Administration building.

According to information provided by the organizations’ observers, activists of the Georgian Dream coalition have forcibly entered the Marneuli Municipal Administration building and assaulted the administration employees verbally. Unfortunately, the Deputy Administrator and his driver were also abused physically. The latter has now been transferred to hospital. According to the Administrator of Marneuli, he was also subjected to violent physical abuse.

We, the aforementioned organizations, once again call upon the leaders of all political parties to ensure the prevention of politically motivated violence by their activists and supporters, as any such acts pose a serious threat to ensuring a peaceful and fair political environment in the post-election period.
