As we wrote on our blog last October, TI Georgia tried to obtain a copy of a contract between the Tbilisi Mayor’s Office and the Geo Gold company concerning the management of Mushtaidi Park. However, the Tbilisi Mayor’s Office Property Management Agency refused to release the document and said that the contract was a commercial secret.

A couple of weeks ago, a video of the Tabula magazine’s interview with Tbilisi Mayor Gigi Ugulava appeared on the Internet. The lease of Mushtaidi Park was discussed in the interview, among other things. The Tbilisi mayor said that the Mushtaidi contract is not a commercial secret and that the Mayor’s Office is prepared to publish all contracts of this type.

TI Georgia welcomes the mayor’s statement and hopes that the Mayor’s Office will deliver on this promise in the nearest future, making it possible for the public to learn the details of the contract concerning the management of Mushtaidi Park.
