The report conducted by Transparency International Georgia within the framework of parliamentary monitoring project covers the activities of the Gender Equality Council (hereinafter the "Council") carried out during the reporting period (July 29, 2018 – July 31, 2019).
The representation of women in the city councils of Adjara has increased, although, in spite of this, there is a significant gender imbalance in the self-government bodies, especially in the executive organs of the municipalities.
Representation of women in the municipal councils of the Imereti region has increased compared with the local self-government elections of 2014. At the same time, chairpersons of 3 municipal councils are women. In spite of this, representation of women among local self-government officials remains low.
